Overview

proposals-papertrade.com is a live crypto wallet drainer that presents itself under the PaperTrade brand, framing the lure around a rewards or proposal event to attract cryptocurrency holders. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-13, two days after the domain was registered, and confirmed it still active with live content as of 2026-10-18. It targets anyone holding digital assets who might be drawn in by the promise of a reward claim or airdrop-style proposal.

How the scam works

The page title — "papertrade - rewards date proposal" — signals the classic drainer playbook: users are told they have a reward or proposal waiting and are prompted to connect their crypto wallet to claim it. The moment a wallet is connected and the user approves a transaction or signs a message, a drainer contract silently transfers tokens and NFTs out of the wallet to attacker-controlled addresses. The victim loses their assets instantly and typically has no recourse once the transaction is confirmed on-chain.

Evidence

VirusTotal returned 11 detections from 92 engines as of 2026-10-16, with flagging vendors including Netcraft, Fortinet, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, G-Data, CRDF, and alphaMountain.ai. The domain appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL blocklists, and Spamhaus DBL classifies it as DBL_PHISH. Two OTX threat-intelligence pulses have also been published against it, providing independent corroboration of the classification.
