PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

proposal-papertrade.info is an impersonation phishing page. Its name pairs a business-sounding "proposal" with "papertrade" so a link looks like a routine offer or trading invitation. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-23. The site has been offline since 2026-09-28, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolves.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look of a service the victim already trusts and then ask for whatever unlocks money: a login, a seed phrase, or a wallet connection and signature. The page showed only its own domain as a title, with no visible brand name, which fits a page meant to be reached through a direct link rather than found through search. MetaMask and SEAL both listed the domain, which points to crypto users as the audience. A victim who goes through the flow can lose account access, or let the operators drain a wallet using a recovery phrase or an approved transaction.

Evidence

Eight of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-25: BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but it comes from independent vendors that reached the same verdict on their own. The crypto-specific blocklists of MetaMask and SEAL also carry it, alongside PhishDestroy. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, so other analysts were tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-09-21, only two days before PhishDestroy caught it. It went dark five days after that. A short window like this is typical of throwaway phishing domains that are used in a single burst of links and then abandoned. The site was hosted at 104.21.89.78 in the US, and its Let's Encrypt certificate gave it a browser padlock that says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you connected a wallet here, revoke any token approvals granted around 2026-09-21 to 2026-09-28 with a revoke tool. If you typed in a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move your funds to a newly created wallet immediately. If you entered a password, change it everywhere you reuse it and turn on app-based 2FA. Defenders should block the domain and IP, search mail and chat logs for messages linking to it, and expect lookalike "proposal" domains to appear next.
