Overview

plrlsnapshotportal.xyz presents itself as an official "PLRL Snapshot Portal," a framing designed to lure cryptocurrency holders into believing they must verify or claim something tied to a snapshot event. PhishDestroy first flagged this site on 2026-10-07, and as of 2026-10-19 it remains fully live and serving active content. It targets anyone holding crypto assets who encounters the portal through social media promotions, airdrop announcements or direct links.

How the scam works

Snapshot portals are a well-established social-engineering lure: victims are told they qualify for a token distribution or airdrop and must verify wallet eligibility before a deadline. The page, titled "Access — PLRL Snapshot Portal," funnels users toward entering their seed phrase or recovery mnemonic to "connect" or "verify" their wallet. The moment that phrase is submitted, the attacker has complete, permanent control of every asset in the wallet — no further interaction is needed on the victim's part.

Evidence

Seven of 92 engines on VirusTotal flagged this domain as malicious as of 2026-10-11, with detections from alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. The domain also appears on both the PhishDestroy and ScamSniffer blocklists, and Spamhaus classifies it as DBL_SPAM. Four independent OTX threat-intelligence pulses further corroborate the classification as a seed phrase theft operation.
