PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

nutcloud.academy posed as Polymarket, the crypto prediction market. It used a French-language page titled "Polymarket | Le plus grand marché de prédictions au monde" ("the world's largest prediction market"), which points to French-speaking traders as the intended victims. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-21. As of 2026-10-19 its DNS was inactive, so the domain no longer resolved to the fake page.

How the scam works

Polymarket users trade by connecting a crypto wallet and funding positions with stablecoins. That makes a convincing copy of its front page a natural lure: visitors who think they are on the real platform are pushed to connect a wallet, sign transactions or log in. A malicious signature or token approval can let the operator sweep the wallet's funds. Entered credentials or email logins can be reused to take over accounts. The French title and Polymarket branding are the hook, and the loss is whatever the victim's wallet or account holds.

Evidence

The Polymarket impersonation is confirmed from several independent directions. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized Polymarket branding on it. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. The crypto-specific blocklists of MetaMask and SEAL carry it alongside PhishDestroy. VirusTotal shows 5 of 91 engines flagging it as of 2026-08-21: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and Gridinsoft. That count is modest, but it includes a Web3-focused vendor. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-11-17 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED, roughly nine months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was acquired well in advance or reused from earlier activity. Its name has no connection to Polymarket, a common way to slip past brand-monitoring filters. Traffic was routed through Cloudflare, Inc. (Canada), which masks the server actually hosting the page.

What to do

If you connected a wallet on this site, open a token-approval manager and revoke any permissions you granted around the time of your visit. Then move any remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you typed a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and abandon it immediately. If you entered an email or password, change it everywhere you reuse it and enable app-based 2FA. Always reach Polymarket through a bookmarked address rather than links or ads. Defenders should block nutcloud.academy at DNS and proxy level and watch for re-registration or a revived DNS record. They should also add it to lists of crypto phishing domains targeting French-speaking users.
