PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

moonshot-votings.com is an impersonation phishing page built around the Moonshot brand, presenting itself as 'Vote to List — Powered by Moonshot'. It targets memecoin traders and Moonshot users who might believe a community vote decides which tokens get listed. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-04. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still live, but its DNS was no longer serving the phishing content.

How the scam works

The 'Vote to List' lure gives visitors a reason to act: back a favourite token, help it get listed, and possibly earn early access or rewards. In schemes of this type, casting a vote requires connecting a crypto wallet and signing a transaction or message. That signature is the trap. It can grant token approvals or authorise transfers that let the operators move assets out of the wallet. The Moonshot branding in the page title lends the request credibility it would not otherwise have.

Evidence

Nine of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-06, among them Kaspersky, BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but the vendors are well established and independent of one another. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and detected Moonshot branding. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. The wallet-security blocklists that matter most here, MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL, all carry it alongside PhishDestroy, and four AlienVault OTX pulses reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-07-21, about 75 days before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap leaves room for the domain to be prepared and circulated before it drew attention. Traffic runs through Cloudflare in the US, which hides the origin server behind a shared network address. The Google Trust Services certificate adds the padlock that makes the page look trustworthy, but it says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you connected a wallet or signed anything on this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke every approval it granted. Move any remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you approved transfers you do not recognise. Never enter a seed phrase or private key on a voting or listing page. Moonshot listings do not require you to sign transactions on an outside domain. Security teams should block moonshot-votings.com at the DNS and proxy level, and watch for lookalike 'vote' or 'listing' domains that reuse the Moonshot name.
