PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

metadoa.org is a live crypto wallet drainer operating under the page title MetaDAO, designed to lure cryptocurrency holders into surrendering control of their wallets. PhishDestroy first identified the site on 2026-10-11, and as of 2026-10-18 it remains fully active with live content. The site targets anyone holding crypto assets who may be drawn in by the MetaDAO branding.

How the scam works

Wallet drainers present themselves as legitimate decentralized-finance platforms or DAOs and prompt visitors to connect their crypto wallets, typically through a button that triggers a wallet-connection dialog. Once connected, the site requests a transaction signature or blanket token approval that silently authorizes the attacker to transfer all assets out of the victim's wallet. The victim loses tokens, NFTs, or any other on-chain assets covered by the approval, often within seconds and with no possibility of reversal.

Evidence

VirusTotal flagged metadoa.org on 2026-10-12 with 12 detections across 92 scanning engines. Vendors confirming the threat include Kaspersky, BitDefender, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, G-Data, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, and alphaMountain.ai. The domain also appears on three independent blocklists: PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL. Four OTX threat-intelligence pulses further corroborate the classification.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-08 through Spaceship, Inc. and is routed through Cloudflare, Inc. infrastructure with a Canadian-country hosting record. TLS is provided by Google Trust Services under the WE1 certificate authority. The combination of a fresh registration and privacy-preserving CDN hosting is consistent with short-lived fraud infrastructure.
