PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

livedesktop.plasmic.run is an impersonation phishing page built to look like Ledger. The 'livedesktop' label points at the Ledger Live desktop app, so the targets are people who own a Ledger hardware wallet or are looking for its companion software. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-12. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger pages usually present a download, update or 'wallet sync' step that ends with a prompt for the 24-word recovery phrase. No genuine Ledger product ever asks for that phrase on a website or in a form. Whoever holds the phrase can rebuild the wallet on their own device and empty it, so a victim who types it in loses every asset tied to that seed, often within minutes. The page carries the title 'Vercel Security Checkpoint', while we classified the content as a Ledger impersonation.

Evidence

On 2026-09-20, 17 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the address as malicious. They included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Emsisoft, CRDF, CyRadar and Chong Lua Dao. Detection from that many unrelated vendors makes a false positive unlikely. urlscan.io independently rated the page malicious and recognised Ledger branding on it. PhishDestroy lists the domain on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The site is a subdomain of plasmic.run, a domain registered on 2022-08-05 through Amazon Registrar, Inc. The operator did not register a fresh lookalike domain. They placed the page on an established platform address, which lends it borrowed credibility and makes it harder to block by domain age. Hosting resolves to AS16509 (Amazon.com, Inc.) in the US, and the certificate comes from Let's Encrypt, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about legitimacy.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase here, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up the Ledger as a new wallet with a fresh phrase and move any remaining funds to it immediately. Never reuse the old seed. If you downloaded software from this page, uninstall it, scan the machine, and get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official channels. If you also connected a hot wallet, revoke any token approvals you granted. Security teams should block livedesktop.plasmic.run and report it to the platform host.
