PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledgerr-web.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that posed as Ledger. It used the title "Ledger Desktop – Secure Crypto Wallet App" to target people who own or are shopping for a Ledger hardware wallet. The doubled "r" in the subdomain is a lookalike meant to pass a quick glance. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and on 2026-10-19 it was still dead, with its content blocked by the hosting provider.

How the scam works

Pages that pose as Ledger's desktop software usually push a fake app download, a fake firmware or security update, or a "wallet sync" prompt. Each of these leads to the same request: type in your 24-word recovery phrase. Anyone who has that phrase controls the wallet from any device, so the attacker can empty every account it protects without ever touching the physical Ledger. A fake installer can also carry malware that steals the phrase or swaps the addresses you copy and paste. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase on a website or in an app.

Evidence

When VirusTotal last checked on 2026-09-11, 11 of 89 engines flagged the site. That is a modest number, but the engines include established names: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Lionic. The domain is also listed by MetaMask and SEAL alongside PhishDestroy. This means wallet software that uses those lists can warn users before the page loads.

Infrastructure

The site was hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a free static hosting service, so it lived under a pages.dev subdomain and needed no separately bought domain. The registration date shown is 2025-10-13, about ten and a half months before PhishDestroy detected the page. It was served from Cloudflare's network with a Canadian geolocation. Free platform subdomains like this are cheap to create and easy to abandon, which is why the provider's block matters.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new Ledger or reset your device with a fresh phrase, then move any remaining funds to the new addresses right away. If you downloaded and ran anything from the page, uninstall it and scan the computer. After that, get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site, and check the receiving address on the device screen before every transfer. Defenders should block the domain, add the lookalike pattern to their monitoring, and report any new copies to Cloudflare and to wallet blocklists.
