PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledgerlive---run.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that posed as Ledger Live, the companion app for Ledger hardware wallets. Its title read "Ledger Live App | Mobile Crypto Management for Ledger", which was written to catch people looking for the official mobile app. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, when its content was blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger Live pages exploit a simple habit: users search for the app, land on a convincing lookalike and trust it because it carries Ledger's name and styling. These pages typically lead the visitor into a fake setup, "sync" or "recovery" step that asks for the 24-word recovery phrase, or they push a counterfeit app that does the same. Anyone who types that phrase hands over full control of the wallet. The attacker can then empty every account derived from it, and a physical Ledger device cannot stop the transfers. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase through a website or app.

Evidence

On 2026-09-11, 13 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Emsisoft, G-Data, CyRadar and alphaMountain.ai. That count is moderate, but it comes from several major independent vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically recognised Ledger branding on the page. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain sits on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so wallet users running those protections were warned before loading it.

Infrastructure

The page ran as a free Cloudflare Pages project with Cloudflare-issued TLS, served from Cloudflare's network with a Canadian IP. The project dates to 2025-10-03, almost eleven months before PhishDestroy detected it. This suggests either a long-dormant setup or a page that ran for a long time without being noticed. The triple hyphen in the name is typical of disposable subdomains that mimic a brand while staying technically unique. Once reported, the provider pulled the content, which is why the site went dark the same day the VirusTotal check was recorded.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a fresh wallet with a new phrase, ideally on a reset or new device, and move any remaining funds immediately. If you installed an app from this page, delete it and scan your phone or computer. In future, download Ledger Live only from Ledger's official channels. Security teams should block the domain and watch for similarly named pages.dev subdomains carrying Ledger branding, and report new ones to the hosting provider and to PhishDestroy.
