PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-live-desktop-wellt.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page built to pass as the Ledger Live desktop application. It targets owners of Ledger hardware wallets who go looking for the companion software. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31. The site went offline on 2026-09-11, and on our latest check on 2026-10-19 it was still dead, with its content blocked by the hosting provider.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger Live pages usually offer a desktop download, a supposed update or a wallet repair step. Sooner or later they ask the visitor to type in the 24-word recovery phrase. Ledger never requests that phrase online, and anyone who has it can rebuild the wallet on another device and empty it. Some variants hand out a trojanized installer that does the same job from the victim's own computer. The page title now reads "Suspected Phishing | Cloudflare", which is the provider's own warning page rather than the original Ledger lure we classified.

Evidence

On 2026-09-13, 10 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, among them alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CyRadar, ESET, Emsisoft, Fortinet, G-Data and Netcraft. That count is moderate, but it spans several unrelated security vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically recognized Ledger branding on the page. Wallet-focused blocklists agree: the domain is listed by MetaMask and SEAL as well as PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The site was set up as a free Cloudflare Pages project, with its subdomain created on 2025-10-11. That is roughly ten and a half months before PhishDestroy flagged it. It was served from Cloudflare's network with a Canadian geolocation. Free static hosting like this lets operators spin up branded lookalike names quickly. The provider's block came eleven days after our first sighting.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new Ledger with a freshly generated phrase and move any remaining funds to it right away. If you installed software downloaded from this page, uninstall it, scan the machine and check your wallet for unexpected transactions. Only get Ledger Live from Ledger's official channels, and never type your seed phrase into any website or app prompt. Defenders should block this hostname and watch for similar Ledger-themed subdomains on free hosting platforms.
