PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-live-desktop-uss.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that copies Ledger and its companion app, Ledger Live. It was titled "Ledger Live Desktop® | Manage Your Crypto™ Assets Safely" and aimed at owners of Ledger hardware wallets. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, its content is blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still dead on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Pages like this pose as the official Ledger Live download or setup portal. The goal is usually to get the visitor to type in their 24-word recovery phrase, often under the pretext of syncing, updating or restoring the device, or to install a fake Ledger Live build that asks for that phrase. Whoever holds the recovery phrase controls the wallet, so attackers can empty every account tied to it without ever touching the physical device. The polished trademark symbols in the title are meant to make the page look like the official vendor.

Evidence

On 2026-09-11, 9 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the site. They include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, Emsisoft, Fortinet, G-Data, Netcraft and Sophos, a mix of independent security vendors. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and identified Ledger as the brand being imitated. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain is on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, which matters because wallet users are protected by those lists directly.

Infrastructure

The page sat on a free Cloudflare Pages subdomain. That setup lets anyone put a lookalike name such as "ledger-live-desktop" in front of a trusted platform domain without registering anything of their own. The project dates to 2025-10-14, roughly ten and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. It was served through Cloudflare's network, with the hosting location given as Canada.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up your Ledger with a brand-new phrase and move any remaining funds to it immediately, because the old phrase cannot be made safe again. If you downloaded an app from the page, uninstall it and scan the computer. Then get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site, and remember that genuine Ledger software never asks for your recovery phrase. Security teams should block the hostname, search proxy and DNS logs for past visits, and report similar pages.dev lookalikes to Cloudflare for takedown.
