PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-live-desktop--us.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page built to look like an official Ledger Live desktop download. Its subdomain is styled as a US-region software page, aimed at Ledger hardware wallet owners searching for the companion app. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, with its content blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still down at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger Live pages exploit the moment a user installs or reinstalls the wallet app. Typically the counterfeit app or page claims the wallet needs to be restored or synced, then prompts for the 24-word recovery phrase. Anyone who types that phrase hands over full control of every account the device protects, and the funds can be swept within minutes, without the physical device. The page now shows the title "Suspected Phishing | Cloudflare", which is the provider's warning screen rather than Ledger branding, while our classification reflects the Ledger impersonation the site was built for.

Evidence

On VirusTotal, 9 of 89 engines flagged the site as of 2026-09-13. The flagging vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Emsisoft, Fortinet, G-Data, Kaspersky, Netcraft and Sophos. That count is modest, but these are independent vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict, and the site appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's. Wallet-focused lists like MetaMask's and SEAL's matter here because they warn users at the point where they would connect or sign.

Infrastructure

The project was created on Cloudflare Pages on 2025-10-15, roughly ten and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. Using a free pages.dev subdomain lets an operator borrow a reputable parent domain and spin up a fresh copy quickly after a takedown. Traffic resolved through Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada. Cloudflare itself has since blocked the content.

What to do

If you downloaded and installed software from this site, uninstall it and scan the computer, then get Ledger Live only through Ledger's official channels. If you entered your recovery phrase anywhere on the site, assume the wallet is compromised. Set up a new seed on your reset device and move any remaining funds to it immediately. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase through an app or website. Security teams should block this hostname and watch for lookalike pages.dev subdomains that combine Ledger product names with region tags.
