PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-liive-desktopp.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that posed as Ledger Live Desktop, the companion app for Ledger hardware wallets. The doubled letters in "liive" and "desktopp" are a typosquat meant to pass a quick glance from Ledger owners searching for the desktop software. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, its content blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page presented itself as "Ledger Live Desktop - Modern Card Guide," framing the lure as an official setup or onboarding walkthrough. Fake Ledger Live pages of this kind steer visitors toward a counterfeit download or a "restore" or "verify" form that asks for the 24-word recovery phrase. Ledger never asks for that phrase anywhere except on the device itself. Anyone who types it into a website or a fake app gives the attacker full control of every account the wallet holds, and the funds can be swept within minutes.

Evidence

15 of 89 VirusTotal engines classed the site as malicious when it was checked on 2026-09-11, including BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Emsisoft, G-Data, CyRadar and alphaMountain.ai. That spread across major independent vendors is a strong signal for a short-lived phishing page. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified Ledger as the imitated brand. The domain is also listed by MetaMask and SEAL alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet-side warnings already cover it.

Infrastructure

The site ran on Cloudflare Pages, a free static hosting service that gives every project a pages.dev subdomain. This let the operators publish a branded-looking address without registering a domain of their own. The listed registration date is 2025-09-26, about eleven months before PhishDestroy detected the page. It was served from Cloudflare's network with a Canadian IP location, and the provider has since blocked the content.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page or in software downloaded from it, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new Ledger with a fresh phrase on the device itself and move any remaining assets to it immediately. If you installed anything from the site, uninstall it, scan the computer, and get Ledger Live only through Ledger's official channels. Security teams should block the hostname and watch for similar typosquats on free hosting subdomains that pair Ledger branding with words like "live" or "desktop."
