PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-hardware-eng.pages.dev is a phishing page that impersonates Ledger. It targets owners of Ledger hardware wallets. The subdomain combines the brand name with "hardware" to look like an official support or setup portal. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31, and the site has been offline since 2026-09-11. When we last checked on 2026-10-19, it was still dead and its content was blocked by the hosting provider.

How the scam works

Ledger impersonation pages usually tell the visitor there is a device problem, a required firmware update or a wallet that needs verifying. They then ask the visitor to type in the 24-word recovery phrase. Anyone who has that phrase can restore the wallet on their own device and empty it, so the hardware wallet gives no protection once the words are entered. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website. The page title now reads "Suspected Phishing | Cloudflare", which is the provider's warning screen rather than the original Ledger-branded content we classified.

Evidence

Thirteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-13. They include BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft and alphaMountain.ai. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict, and its "genericcloudflare" brand match reflects the warning page now shown in place of the site. The domain is also listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so three separate crypto-focused sources agree on the threat.

Infrastructure

The site was built on Cloudflare Pages, a free static-hosting service, and served from Cloudflare's network with a Canadian IP location. The project dates to 2025-11-04, almost ten months before PhishDestroy flagged it. That suggests either a long-dormant setup or an older project later repurposed for phishing. Its free pages.dev address lets an operator launch quickly without registering a domain. That same dependence on the provider is what let Cloudflare shut the content off.

What to do

If you entered your Ledger recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new wallet with a fresh seed, ideally after resetting the device, and move any remaining funds there immediately. Never reuse the old phrase. If you only visited the page and typed nothing, no action is needed, but get Ledger software only from Ledger's official channels. Security teams should block the domain and watch for similar brand-plus-keyword subdomains on pages.dev and other free hosting platforms.
