PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

krakentor.to is a Russian-language phishing page that borrows the Kraken name and presents itself as a gateway to the real service. It targets Russian-speaking users who search for a working Kraken entrance and are willing to click any link promising access. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-25. It was still online and serving its content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title, "КРАКЕН ТОР - зайти через зеркало сайта", translates to "Kraken Tor: log in through a site mirror". It pitches itself as an alternative doorway for people who believe the original is blocked or unreachable. Mirror-style lures like this usually show a copied login form. Whatever the visitor types, including usernames, passwords, one-time codes and sometimes crypto deposits, goes to the operators rather than the real platform. The victim can lose the account, any funds held in it and any money sent through the fake page. The title points to a Tor "mirror" of a site called Kraken, and PhishDestroy classifies the domain as an impersonation of the Kraken brand.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, 11 of 92 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious. The vendors flagging it include ADMINUSLabs, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. Roughly one engine in eight is a minority, but these are several established security vendors reaching the same verdict independently. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. Among the blocklists covered here, only PhishDestroy lists it so far.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-02-13, about nineteen months before PhishDestroy detected it. That suggests the name was either held in reserve or active for a long time without attracting attention. It uses Tonga's .to country domain, whose registry is operated by the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with traffic resolving to Canada, so the network address hides where the content is actually hosted.

What to do

If you entered a Kraken username or password on this page, change that password immediately from the official app or a bookmarked address. Reset two-factor authentication and review active sessions and withdrawal settings for changes you did not make. Do not send any deposit or "verification" payment through this site. Treat any funds you already sent as lost, and report the transfer to the real platform and to local authorities. Security teams should block krakentor.to at the DNS and proxy level and watch for similar Kraken "mirror" domains in Russian-language lures.
