PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

kodexuniversal.com presents itself as "Kodex Universal: Buy, Trade and Earn Crypto," an all-in-one crypto platform. PhishDestroy classifies it as a credential phishing page aimed at people looking for a place to buy or trade cryptocurrency. We first flagged it on 2026-09-06. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The page title promises buying, trading and earning in one place. That pitch draws visitors to sign-up and login forms. Whatever is typed there, such as email addresses, passwords and one-time codes, goes to the operators. They can reuse those credentials against real exchanges, email inboxes and wallets that share the same password. The page title describes a trading service, while our classification reflects what the site does with what visitors enter.

Evidence

On 2026-09-20, 7 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors were alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and desenmascara.me. That is a modest share, but it comes from several unrelated vendors, including predictive and threat-feed services. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it too. PhishDestroy currently lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-22 through COSMOTOWN, INC. It drew our attention just 15 days later, a short gap typical of throwaway scam domains. It resolves to 198.251.84.236 on the PONYNET network of FranTech Solutions, a US provider, with the address geolocated to Germany. The Let's Encrypt (YE2) certificate puts a padlock in the browser, but that only means the connection is encrypted. It says nothing about whether the site is honest.

What to do

Do not register or log in on kodexuniversal.com. If you entered a password there, change it right away on every service where you used it, starting with your email and any exchange accounts. Turn on app-based or hardware-key two-factor authentication, sign out of all active sessions, and review recent logins and withdrawal addresses on your exchange accounts. Be wary of follow-up messages that use details you submitted. Security teams should block the domain and its IP, search proxy and DNS logs for visits, and reset credentials for any user who reached the page.
