PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

kaneko.co poses as the official download portal for Hit Club, a Vietnamese-language gaming and betting brand. Its page title promises the 'chính chủ' (genuine) Hit Club app for Android and iOS for 2026. The domain name has no connection to Hit Club, and PhishDestroy classifies it as impersonation phishing. We first flagged it on 2026-07-27, and on 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors onward.

How the scam works

Lookalike Hit Club portals rely on people searching for an app download outside the official stores. Victims are pushed to install a package from an unofficial source or to sign up and deposit money through the copycat site. The likely losses are login credentials, deposited funds, and on Android a sideloaded app that can harvest personal data. Because the site redirects, the page a visitor finally lands on can change without the domain itself changing.

Evidence

On 2026-10-01, VirusTotal showed 5 of 91 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low count, so many browsers and security tools may still let the site load without a warning. The domain also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers have tracked it separately from us. It is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain is registered through Spaceship, Inc., and its current registration date is 2026-08-24. That is about four weeks after our first sighting. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the edge address located in Canada, so the IP address is shared and does not identify the real origin server. Its certificate comes from Google Trust Services, so the browser padlock only confirms an encrypted connection and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you installed an app from this site, uninstall it, run a mobile security scan, and on iOS remove any configuration or enterprise profile it asked you to trust. Change any password you entered there and enable two-factor authentication wherever that password is reused. If you deposited money, contact your bank or payment provider right away, and do not pay any further 'unlock' or withdrawal fees. Defenders should block kaneko.co by domain name rather than by IP, since the Cloudflare address is shared with many unrelated sites, and should watch for other domains using the same Hit Club page title.
