PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

fut26.online is an impersonation phishing site aimed at EA Sports FC players. The domain name plays on FUT, the Ultimate Team mode, and the page is titled "EA FC POINTS Your Path to Success", which pitches the game's premium currency to players hoping for a shortcut. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-23, and it was still online when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Sites like this dangle free or heavily discounted FC Points, the in-game currency used to buy Ultimate Team packs. To claim the offer, the visitor is typically asked to sign in with their EA account, enter a platform login, or pay a small "processing" charge. The real goal is the account itself. Stolen EA credentials let attackers strip a club of tradeable players and coins, resell the account, or reuse the password elsewhere, and any card details entered go straight to the operators.

Evidence

On 2026-10-06, 9 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Lionic and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but the flagging vendors are independent of one another. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2025-09-15, nearly a year before PhishDestroy detected it. That long gap suggests it was registered ahead of the FC 26 season and either kept in reserve or run quietly before drawing attention. It resolves to Google LLC infrastructure in the United States and uses a certificate from Google Trust Services. The padlock in the browser only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered an EA, PlayStation, Xbox or Steam login on this site, change that password immediately, along with anywhere else you reused it, and turn on two-factor authentication. Check your EA account for unfamiliar logins, changed email addresses or missing club items, and contact EA Help if anything was taken. If you paid or entered card details, ask your bank to block the card and dispute the charge. FC Points come only through official platform stores and EA, so treat any outside offer as a scam. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike names built on FUT and FC season numbers.
