fonp.shop impersonated Epic Games behind a page titled "Inventory Check | Fortnite". It targeted Fortnite players who care about their skins, V-Bucks and account value. PhishDestroy first saw the domain on 2026-08-30. The site has been offline since 2026-09-17, and on 2026-10-19 its DNS was still inactive.
How the scam works
An "inventory check" lure promises to show players what their locker is worth or confirm their cosmetics. To do that, the page asks them to sign in with their Epic Games credentials. Whatever is typed into that fake login goes to the operators, not to Epic. With the password, and sometimes a one-time code captured in the same flow, attackers can take over the account. They can then strip or resell it, spend linked payment methods, or reuse the password on other services.
Evidence
On 2026-09-12, 17 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, CRDF, alphaMountain.ai and Bfore.Ai PreCrime. That is solid agreement for a short-lived phishing site. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and detected Epic Games branding on the page, which matches our impersonation classification. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers were tracking it independently.
Infrastructure
The domain is a cheap .shop name registered through Global Domain Group LLC. It has no visible link to Epic Games. Traffic ran through Cloudflare's network (AS13335, US), which hides the real origin server from visitors. The Let's Encrypt certificate gave the page a padlock, but that only means the connection was encrypted, not that the site was genuine. The domain stopped responding roughly two and a half weeks after PhishDestroy first logged it, a typical lifespan for throwaway gaming-phishing domains.
What to do
If you entered your Epic Games login on this page, change your Epic password now. Also change it on any other service where you used the same password. Then enable or reset two-factor authentication on your Epic account. Review your account's active sessions, linked platforms, purchase history and saved payment methods, and contact Epic Games support if items or V-Bucks are missing. Defenders should block fonp.shop and watch for similar Fortnite "inventory" or "skin checker" lures on new low-cost domains.
