PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

fcpoints.shop presents itself as an "FC Points Generator," a page that claims to hand out free FC Points, the premium currency of EA Sports FC. It targets players who want Ultimate Team packs without paying for them. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-06 and classifies it as an impersonation phishing page. When last checked on 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

No legitimate tool can generate FC Points. The currency exists only on the publisher's servers and is sold through official stores. Fake generators like this one follow a familiar pattern. The visitor types in a username or account login and picks an amount, and an animated "generation" screen plays. The points are then held back until the visitor completes a "verification" step. That step typically means handing over account credentials, filling out surveys or offers, or installing apps. The victim gets no currency and may lose their game account, personal details or money spent on the offers.

Evidence

On 2026-09-16, 8 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The flagging vendors were alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue, SOCRadar, Webroot and desenmascara.me. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors are independent of one another. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have catalogued it as well. Among the blocklists we track, only PhishDestroy currently lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap, Inc. on 2025-08-05, more than a year before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap points to a domain kept in reserve or quietly operating before it drew attention. The site sits behind Cloudflare's network in the US, which hides the origin server from visitors. Its TLS certificate is a basic domain-validated one from TrustAsia. The padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your EA account email or password on this page, change that password right away. Enable two-factor authentication and check the account for unfamiliar logins or changes to the linked email. Reuse of that password elsewhere means those accounts need new passwords too. If the page pushed you to install an app or sign up for an offer, uninstall the software and cancel any subscriptions or charges it created. Buy FC Points only through official in-game or platform stores. Defenders should block fcpoints.shop at DNS and web proxies and warn gaming communities that FC Points generators are always fraudulent.
