PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

facebook-badge.com is a phishing domain built to impersonate Facebook and aimed at people who manage Facebook profiles and pages. Its name plays on the appeal of a profile badge, a common hook for account-takeover scams. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-12, and the site went offline the next day, 2026-09-13. As of 2026-10-19 it remains dead, and its content is blocked at the provider level.

How the scam works

Badge-themed Facebook phishing usually promises a verification badge or warns of a badge or page problem, then sends the visitor to a fake Facebook login. Anything typed there goes straight to the operators, including the password and often the one-time 2FA code, so they can take over the account before the owner reacts. A hijacked profile or page is then used to run fraudulent ads, message contacts with further scams, or lock out the real owner. When PhishDestroy last saw it, the page showed only the title "Deployment Unavailable," which does not match the Facebook impersonation we classified.

Evidence

Fifteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-12. The vendors flagging it include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai and Chong Lua Dao. Spamhaus lists it in its DBL as a phishing domain, so mail and DNS filters that use that list will reject it. It also appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-05-19 through Name.com, Inc., almost four months before it was detected. A registration that sits unused for months before going live often points to a planned operation rather than an impulsive one. The site was hosted on Amazon.com, Inc. infrastructure in the United States.

What to do

If you entered your Facebook password on this site, change it immediately and use a new password you have never used elsewhere. Then open Facebook's security settings and log out all active sessions. Check that your recovery email, phone number and two-factor method have not been changed, and switch from SMS codes to an authenticator app or security key. Review page roles, ad accounts and recent posts or messages for anything you did not do. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and mail gateways and search logs for any visits around 2026-09-12 to 2026-09-13.
