PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ethv2.cc is an impersonation phishing page whose name presents it as an "ETH v2" service, a lure aimed at Ethereum holders and wallet users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-23. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving live content, so it remains a threat to anyone who lands on it.

How the scam works

Sites like this borrow the name of a well-known project and invent an "upgrade" or "version 2" story, claiming users must migrate, claim, or verify their ETH before a deadline. The victim is then asked to connect a wallet and sign transactions or approvals, or to type in a recovery phrase. Either one gives the operator control of the funds, and transfers made this way cannot be reversed. The page title reads "编组 21" ("Group 21"), a default layer name from a design tool rather than any brand name, while we classify the site as impersonation phishing.

Evidence

Two crypto-specific blocklists, MetaMask and SEAL, list the domain alongside PhishDestroy. A MetaMask entry matters because the wallet warns its users before they interact with the site. Generic scanners lag behind. On 2026-10-07 only 5 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged it: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. The domain also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers are tracking it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-12-03 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., almost ten months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was registered in advance and activated later. It resolves to 104.21.57.49 on Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden behind the proxy. Its Google Trust Services certificate is the automatic kind Cloudflare provides, and the browser padlock says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to ethv2.cc, review and revoke every token approval and permission it was granted, and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not fully understand. If you entered a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer funds to a new wallet with a new phrase immediately. Report any losses to your wallet provider and local authorities, and keep transaction hashes. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to wallet and browser warning lists, and alert users that no legitimate "ETH v2" migration requires a wallet connection or recovery phrase.
