PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

entrust.best was a phishing page that presented itself as Entrust, a company known for digital identity, authentication and certificate services. Its page title read simply "Entrust," so anyone landing on it saw the brand name they expected. The likely targets were people who use Entrust-branded logins or verification at work or with their bank. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-07, and it went offline on 2026-09-14. As of 2026-10-19, its DNS no longer resolves.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this copy the name and look of a trusted security brand. They then ask the visitor to sign in, verify an identity or confirm an authentication code. Because Entrust is associated with identity protection, a request to log in or re-verify feels routine rather than suspicious. Anything typed into the page goes to the operators. That can include usernames, passwords, one-time codes or personal details, which they can use to take over accounts. The ".best" ending, rather than the brand's own domain, is the giveaway a careful visitor could have caught.

Evidence

On 2026-09-12, 6 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but these vendors work independently of one another and of PhishDestroy. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers tracked it too. Among blocklists, only PhishDestroy lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2026-08-15. It was hosted on a Namecheap, Inc. network in the US. It ran for 23 days before PhishDestroy flagged it and stayed up only a week after that, a short lifespan typical of disposable phishing domains. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gave the page a padlock icon, which shows only that the connection was encrypted, not that the site was really Entrust.

What to do

If you entered a password on entrust.best, change it right away on the real service and anywhere else you reused it. Then review recent sign-ins and active sessions for anything you don't recognize. If you submitted a one-time code or approved a login prompt from this page, reset or re-enroll your second factor and alert your IT or security team. Defenders should search proxy and DNS logs for contact with this domain between 2026-08-15 and 2026-09-14 and treat any affected accounts as potentially compromised. They should also watch for new lookalike domains that use the Entrust name with unusual endings.
