PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This Cloudflare Pages site posed as the official home of the Exodus wallet. Its page title, "Exódus® Web3 Wallet | Exódus® Browser Extension", targeted people searching for the Exodus browser extension. The hostname also contains the string "trezr", which echoes the Trezor hardware wallet brand, but the page itself imitated Exodus. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-28. It has been offline since 2026-09-07, its content is blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake wallet-extension pages like this one copy the look of the real product and the trademark styling. The accented "Exódus®" spelling in the title is a typical way to pass casual inspection and keyword filters. Visitors are pushed to set up, restore or sync a wallet, and the page asks for the 12- or 24-word recovery phrase or a password. Anyone who submits a seed phrase gives the attacker full control of the wallet, and the funds can be moved out with no way to reverse it.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the page malicious and identified the impersonated brand as Exodus. On VirusTotal, 9 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-08. The flagging vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai and LevelBlue. Independent of those engines, the site appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists as well as PhishDestroy's, so wallet users running those protections would have been warned.

Infrastructure

The site ran as a free Cloudflare Pages project registered on 2025-09-08, almost a year before PhishDestroy detected it. It was hosted on Cloudflare's network with the address geolocated to Canada. Throwaway subdomains on free static hosting cost nothing to create and are easy to replace, which is why lures like this one reuse random, brand-flavoured names.

What to do

If you typed a recovery phrase into this page, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet in the genuine Exodus app with a fresh phrase and move any remaining assets there immediately. If you only entered a password, change it and do not reuse it elsewhere. Install wallet software only through Exodus's official site or your browser's verified extension store, and never share a seed phrase with any website. Defenders should block the domain and watch for sibling pages.dev hostnames that use Exodus or Trezor branding.
