PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

desktop-ledgra-en--x.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page posing as Ledger's desktop software under the title "Ledger Desktop — Secure hardware-backed crypto management". The subdomain misspells the brand as "ledgra", a near-miss meant to pass a quick glance from Ledger hardware wallet owners. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-26. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, with its content blocked by the hosting provider, and was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page presents itself as an official place to get or use Ledger's desktop app. Fake Ledger software pages of this kind usually do one of two things. They either serve a counterfeit installer, or they walk the visitor through a bogus "sync" or "recovery" step that asks for the 24-word recovery phrase. Whoever holds that phrase can rebuild the wallet on their own device and empty it, so the hardware wallet's protection is bypassed entirely.

Evidence

Six of 90 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-05: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Kaspersky and LevelBlue. That count is modest, but these are independent vendors reaching the same conclusion. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain is listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, both of which focus specifically on crypto threats.

Infrastructure

The site ran on Cloudflare Pages, a free static hosting service whose shared pages.dev domain lets anyone publish a branded-looking subdomain without registering a domain of their own. The registration date tied to it is 2025-10-14. Traffic resolved to Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada. The provider has since blocked the content.

What to do

If you typed your recovery phrase into this page, treat that wallet as compromised. Reset your Ledger, create a new phrase, and move any remaining funds to addresses derived from it as quickly as you can. If you downloaded and ran anything from the site, uninstall it, run a full malware scan, and get Ledger's software only from Ledger's official site. Ledger never asks for your 24 words in any app or web page. Defenders should block the domain and look for other misspelled "ledger" subdomains on pages.dev in proxy and DNS logs.
