PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

dedisetup.com is a fake hosting storefront advertising "Dedicated Servers, Pay in Crypto, No KYC — from $49/mo." PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page aimed at privacy-minded buyers who want servers without identity checks and are willing to pay in cryptocurrency. We first flagged it on 2026-09-08. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content. The page title presents a dedicated-server hosting offer, while we classify the site as impersonation.

How the scam works

The pitch is built around three hooks: cheap dedicated hardware, crypto-only payment, and no KYC. Sites like this copy the look and language of a legitimate hosting provider, then ask the buyer to send crypto to activate a server. Because the payment is on-chain and the shop promises anonymity, victims have no card chargeback, no verified company to pursue, and often no working server in return. Anyone who signs up may also hand over an email and password that can be tried on other services.

Evidence

Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-17: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, so many browsers and filters will not warn visitors yet. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, which means other researchers are also tracking it. PhishDestroy is the only blocklist here that lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Tucows Domains Inc. on 2026-09-05, just three days before we detected it. This rapid launch is typical of throwaway scam storefronts. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the edge address resolving to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a browser padlock, but that only shows the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the seller is honest.

What to do

Do not send cryptocurrency to dedisetup.com for any server plan or renewal. If you already paid, keep the transaction hash and your order details, and report the receiving address to the exchange or wallet service you paid from, since crypto transfers cannot be reversed. If you created an account there, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication. Ignore any follow-up request for "setup" or "activation" fees. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and report it to Cloudflare's abuse channel.
