PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

crypto-bm6.netlify.app was a phishing page that posed as a legitimate crypto service on a free Netlify subdomain. Its "crypto" label and its listing by MetaMask and the SEAL security alliance point to crypto wallet holders as the intended victims. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. The site went offline on 2026-09-16 and still served nothing at its root when rechecked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a trusted wallet, exchange or project so that visitors believe they are on the real site. The victim is then pushed to type in a seed phrase or private key, sign in with account credentials, or connect a wallet and approve a transaction. Any of these gives the operator control of the funds, and stolen crypto is moved out within minutes and cannot be reversed. Throwaway subdomains on free hosting platforms like this one are cheap to create and easy to replace once blocked.

Evidence

Wallet-security blocklists caught this page more strongly than general antivirus did. MetaMask's phishing list and SEAL both carry it alongside PhishDestroy, which means a MetaMask user would have been warned before the page loaded. On VirusTotal only 3 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-16: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and VIPRE. That low count is typical for short-lived crypto phishing and should not be read as a sign the page was safe.

Infrastructure

The page lived on Netlify's shared hosting domain instead of a registered domain of its own, so the operator paid nothing and left no domain registration behind. Traffic resolved to Amazon infrastructure in Germany, the cloud backend that serves Netlify sites. The page stayed up for about eight days after PhishDestroy first saw it, which fits the disposable, rotate-and-repeat pattern of this kind of campaign.

What to do

If you entered a seed phrase or private key on this page, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a newly created wallet right away. If you connected a wallet or signed something, review and revoke token approvals with a trusted allowance checker. If you typed an exchange or account password, change it and reset two-factor authentication. Defenders should block the hostname, watch for similar crypto-themed subdomains on free hosting platforms, and report new copies to Netlify and to the MetaMask and SEAL lists.
