PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

crypto-0u8.netlify.app was an impersonation phishing page built on a free Netlify subdomain, presenting itself as a legitimate crypto service to lure wallet holders. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-08. The site has been offline since 2026-09-16, and on 2026-10-19 the root returned no content.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this copy the look of a trusted crypto brand so that visitors believe they are on the real site. The page then asks for the one thing that unlocks the victim's funds. That might be a wallet connection followed by a malicious signature or token approval, or a recovery phrase or private key typed into a fake "verification" or "restore" form. Whatever is handed over lets the operator move the assets, and on-chain transfers cannot be reversed. Hosting on a generic, random-looking subdomain lets the operator spin up a copy in minutes and replace it just as fast once it is reported.

Evidence

The strongest signal comes from crypto-specific blocklists. MetaMask and the SEAL community both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, so MetaMask users should see a warning before the page loads. Generic antivirus coverage was thin. On 2026-09-16, only 3 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged it: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and VIPRE. A low count like that is typical for short-lived phishing on shared hosting and does not mean the page was harmless.

Infrastructure

The page lived on Netlify, a static-site platform that hands out subdomains like this one instantly and at no cost. It was served from Amazon's network, with the IP located in Germany. The DigiCert certificate is the platform's standard wildcard certificate, so the padlock reflected Netlify itself and said nothing about who ran the page. The site went offline eight days after PhishDestroy first recorded it.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to this page, review its token approvals and revoke any you do not recognise, then move the remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you signed anything unusual. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as fully compromised. Create a new one on a trusted device and transfer whatever is left immediately. Defenders should block the domain, consider stricter filtering for unfamiliar crypto-themed Netlify subdomains, and report any new copies to Netlify and to wallet blocklist maintainers.
