PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

crowntrusts.com is an impersonation phishing site. It poses as a trusted service to collect sensitive information from crypto users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-17. On 2026-10-19 the domain was still online, with its content sitting behind a protective gate rather than loading openly. The page title reads "Bot Verification," while our classification is impersonation phishing.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a legitimate platform so visitors believe they are on the real thing. A "Bot Verification" step is a common opening move. It makes the site feel careful and official, and it gets the visitor used to clicking through prompts before the real request appears. That request is typically a login, a recovery phrase, or a wallet connection presented as a routine check. Anything entered goes straight to the operators, who can then take over accounts or empty wallets.

Evidence

On 2026-09-29, VirusTotal showed 9 of 91 security engines marking the domain as malicious. The flagging vendors include ESET, Fortinet, Netcraft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai and Bfore.Ai PreCrime. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors span antivirus firms, URL-reputation services and a predictive threat-intelligence engine, which makes the verdict more credible. The domain also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, and PhishDestroy lists it on its own blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-10-31 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, roughly ten and a half months before we detected it. A domain that sits that long before use can build a cleaner reputation in filters. The site is hosted in the United States on the Aquiryn LLC network. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you only passed the verification screen, close the tab and enter nothing further. If you typed a password, change it on the genuine service right away, turn on app-based two-factor authentication and sign out of all other sessions. If you entered a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move your funds to a new wallet. If you connected a wallet, review and revoke any token approvals you granted. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and web proxies, and watch logs for users who reached it.
