PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

chat-whatsapp.nijz.site is an impersonation phishing page that borrows the WhatsApp name to lure users into a fake chat or group invitation. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-09. As of 2026-10-19 the server still responds, but the phishing content itself no longer resolves. The page title reads "🥵CP Group 🔥", an adult-style group lure rather than WhatsApp branding, while we classify the site as WhatsApp impersonation.

How the scam works

Pages like this pose as a WhatsApp group invite and use a provocative title such as "🥵CP Group 🔥" to get people to click a join button. Instead of opening WhatsApp, the victim is asked to verify their identity, usually by entering a phone number and then the six-digit code WhatsApp sends by SMS. Anyone who hands over that code gives the attacker the means to register the victim's number on another device. The victim loses their account, and the attacker can use it to message their contacts with the same lure or with requests for money.

Evidence

VirusTotal lists 6 of 92 engines flagging the domain as of 2026-10-13: alphaMountain.ai, Ermes, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a small share, but several unrelated vendors reached the same verdict independently. Among blocklists, only PhishDestroy currently carries it, so many browsers and filters may still let it through.

Infrastructure

The parent domain nijz.site was registered through NAMECHEAP INC on 2025-11-05, almost eleven months before it appeared on our radar. That gap suggests the domain was held in reserve and later given a brand-themed subdomain for this campaign. It resolves to 161.248.189.35 on the Ummah Host BD network in Bangladesh and uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so a padlock in the address bar says nothing about whether the page is legitimate.

What to do

If you typed in your phone number or a verification code, open WhatsApp immediately and re-register your number to push out any other device. Then turn on two-step verification with a PIN and remove any unfamiliar entries under Linked devices. If the account has already been taken over, warn your contacts through another channel and ignore any messages from your number asking for money or codes. Defenders should block chat-whatsapp.nijz.site and the parent nijz.site, and look in DNS and proxy logs for internal users who opened the invite.
