PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

botorex.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a crypto service called BotoRex, with the page title "BotoRex - Home". It is aimed at cryptocurrency users who believe they have found a legitimate platform. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-07. When last checked on 2026-10-19, the site was still online and serving its scam content.

How the scam works

The BotoRex front page is built to look like an established crypto platform so that visitors trust it with money or credentials. Schemes of this type usually ask the visitor to register, sign in, deposit cryptocurrency or connect a wallet. Anything sent goes straight to the operators. Any login details or wallet permissions handed over let them take more. urlscan.io tagged the page as a cryptoscam, which matches this pattern of collecting crypto under a borrowed or invented brand.

Evidence

Eight of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-10-12. They are alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, Netcraft and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but it includes several major security vendors and a phishing-focused service. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict, and seven AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, so other researchers are tracking it too. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-04-19 through Spaceship, Inc., roughly a year and a half before PhishDestroy detected it. That long gap means it may have operated or sat ready for a long time before being caught. It is hosted on the SpectraIP B.V. network in the Netherlands and uses a standard Let's Encrypt certificate. The padlock in the browser therefore says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit funds, sign up or pay any "fee" this site asks for to release a balance. Payments of that kind are not recoverable. If you created an account, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication on your real exchange and email accounts. If you connected a wallet, review and revoke any token approvals granted during the visit and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet. Security teams should block botorex.com at DNS and proxy level and look for past user traffic to it.
