PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

bittapdefi.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as BITTAP. It adds a "defi" suffix to the brand name so it looks like an official decentralized-finance spin-off. It targets crypto users who search for or are sent links to Bittap. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15, and as of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The page carries the title BITTAP and copies the brand's look so visitors believe they are on a genuine Bittap property. Impersonation pages like this usually push one of three actions. They ask for account credentials, prompt a wallet connection and transaction signature, or ask for a deposit into a fake trading or staking dashboard. Whichever path the victim takes, the result is the same: stolen logins, drained wallet assets, or deposits that can never be withdrawn.

Evidence

Eleven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-25. These include Google Safe Browsing, Kaspersky, BitDefender, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. Because Google Safe Browsing is among them, mainstream browsers may show a warning. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category. The MetaMask and SEAL blocklists also carry it alongside PhishDestroy, and those two lists focus specifically on threats to wallet users. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, so other researchers are tracking it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-11-30 through Cloudflare, Inc., roughly nine and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. That long gap suggests the name was set up well in advance rather than burned immediately. The site resolves to Cloudflare's network, with the address geolocated to Canada. This means the real origin server sits behind Cloudflare's proxy and is not exposed directly.

What to do

Do not log in, connect a wallet or send funds on this site. If you entered Bittap credentials there, change your password on the real platform right away and reset two-factor authentication. Check your account for unfamiliar sessions or withdrawals. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, revoke token approvals with a trusted approval-management tool. Move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you shared a seed phrase. Never pay "fees" to unlock money shown on the site, because those payments are part of the theft. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to mail and chat filters, and report any new Bittap-themed lookalikes for takedown.
