PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

batonexs.net is an impersonation phishing site that presents itself under the name "Batonex" and targets cryptocurrency users. The extra "s" in the domain is easy to miss, which helps the page pass as a legitimate Batonex property. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-09. When last checked on 2026-10-19, the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The page carries the title "Batonex" and copies the look of a crypto platform, so visitors believe they are using the real service. Pages like this typically ask visitors to sign in, deposit funds or connect a wallet. Anything entered or sent goes straight to the operators. Credentials can be reused to take over accounts, and deposits made into a fake platform are generally unrecoverable. urlscan.io's classifier tagged the page as a crypto scam, which fits this pattern of luring users into handing over money or access.

Evidence

Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-13: BitDefender, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, LevelBlue and URLQuery. That count is modest, but the detections come from several major independent vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so wallet users may already see warnings. It is also referenced in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-10-03, just six days before PhishDestroy detected it. That is the usual pattern of a domain bought specifically for a short-lived campaign. The site sits behind Cloudflare, with the network address geolocated to Canada. Because Cloudflare proxies traffic, the true origin server is not exposed. A free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a padlock, which says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

Do not log in, deposit or connect a wallet on batonexs.net. If you entered a password, change it on the genuine service and anywhere you reused it, and enable app-based 2FA. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals with a trusted revocation tool, and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you shared a seed phrase. If you sent funds, keep the transaction records and report them to the real platform and to local authorities, and ignore any "recovery" offers. Defenders should block the domain, watch for lookalike Batonex spellings, and report abuse to the registrar and Cloudflare.
