PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

auradrop.lol presented itself as "Aura Coin on Solana". It used the Solana name to look like an official token launch or airdrop, aimed at people hunting for new Solana tokens. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-09-05, one day after the domain was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolves.

How the scam works

Pages like this borrow a trusted ecosystem's branding to make a made-up coin look legitimate, and the "drop" in the domain name signals a free-token lure. The visitor is pushed to connect a Solana wallet and approve a transaction to claim tokens. That approval actually hands over the assets in the wallet. Victims typically lose SOL and other tokens, and they receive nothing of value in return.

Evidence

Antivirus coverage was thin. On 2026-09-06 only 2 of 90 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, alphaMountain.ai and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, so most scanners would have let it through. Stronger confirmation comes from crypto-specific defenses: MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL all list the domain alongside PhishDestroy. It also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Global Domain Group LLC on 2026-09-04 and was in use against visitors within a day. That quick turnaround is typical of short-lived scam campaigns. Traffic ran through Cloudflare's network on an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the real origin server. A Google Trust Services certificate gave it a padlock icon, which proves only that the connection was encrypted, not that the site was safe. It stayed online for about a week.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to auradrop.lol, open your Solana wallet's connected-apps list and remove the site. Check your recent transactions for anything you did not intend, and revoke any token delegations through a trusted revocation tool. If you signed a transaction there or entered a seed phrase, assume the wallet is compromised. Move any remaining funds to a new wallet with a freshly generated seed, and never reuse the old one. Security teams should block the domain and treat new Solana "airdrop" or token-launch domains with very recent registration dates as high risk.
