PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

asksamie.shop is an impersonation phishing page posing as AskSAMIE, a service offering adaptive equipment and guidance from occupational therapists. Its page title, "AskSAMIE | Expert Adaptive Equipment & Guidance from OT's | AskSAMIE", copies the brand directly. It targets people with disabilities, older adults, caregivers and families looking for daily-living aids. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-04, and the page was still live with its content served on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The site borrows AskSAMIE's name and its OT-backed reputation to look like a trusted place to buy or research adaptive equipment. urlscan.io identified it as a fake shop, which points to a storefront that collects orders and payments for products that never ship. Visitors who check out can lose the money they pay and hand over card details, addresses and contact information. Those details can then be reused for fraud or further phishing. Buyers in this niche often order urgently for a relative, which makes a convincing copy of a known brand especially effective.

Evidence

Six of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-06: alphaMountain.ai, ESET, Gridinsoft, Netcraft, SOCRadar and Webroot. That is a modest count, but it includes established phishing and web-threat vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and separately tagged the page as a fake shop. The domain appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-04-13 through Spaceship, Inc., nearly six months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was either held in reserve or ran quietly before drawing attention. It resolves to 37.72.142.130, on a network operated by Malakmadze Web LLC, which is registered in Georgia, while the IP geolocates to the US. The free Let's Encrypt certificate means the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the shop is legitimate.

What to do

If you ordered from asksamie.shop, contact your bank or card issuer right away to dispute the charge and ask for a replacement card. Watch your statements for unfamiliar transactions. If you created an account there, change that password anywhere else you reused it. Treat follow-up emails, calls or texts about your "order" as further phishing.
