PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

arbitriumbit.com presents itself as "ARBITRIUMBIT", a French-language cryptocurrency exchange for buying and selling Bitcoin and Ethereum. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page aimed at French-speaking crypto buyers. We first flagged it on 2026-09-18. As of 2026-10-19 the host still responded, but its DNS was no longer serving the site's content.

How the scam works

The page title, "Achat et vente de Bitcoin, Ethereum | Bourse de crypto-monnaies", mimics the storefront of a legitimate trading platform to win trust. Schemes of this kind ask visitors to open an account and fund it with crypto or card payments, then display invented balances and profits on a dashboard the operators control. When the victim tries to withdraw, new "fees", "taxes" or verification deposits appear, and the money is never released. Victims lose everything they deposited, and the sign-up details and identity documents they submitted can be reused for further fraud.

Evidence

On 2026-09-30, 11 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a minority of engines, but the flags come from several unrelated vendors, which supports the classification. The domain appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-13 through Dominet (HK) Limited and was already running as a phishing site when we caught it five days later. A domain this new posing as an established exchange is a strong warning sign on its own. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, with the address placed in Canada, so the real origin server stays hidden. Its Let's Encrypt certificate is free and issued automatically, so the browser padlock says nothing about whether the operator is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit anything, and ignore any request to pay a fee before a withdrawal. Those payments only add to the loss. If you already sent funds, stop all payments and report the transaction details to your bank or card issuer, the exchange you sent crypto from, and the police. If you reused the password you set on this site, change it everywhere you used it and turn on two-factor authentication. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to mail and web filtering.
