PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

alackalbellmetals.shop is a fake online shop presenting itself as "Alackal Bell Metals", a seller of authentic Kerala brass pooja and temple items. It targets devotees, temple suppliers and gift buyers looking for traditional brass lamps, bells and ritual ware. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-25, and it was still online and serving its storefront on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title promises authentic Kerala brass, a niche where buyers expect handcrafted goods and are used to paying premium prices or waiting for shipping from India. Fake shops like this list attractive items at tempting prices, take payment by card or bank transfer, and then send nothing, a cheap substitute, or a stream of shipping excuses until the refund window closes. Victims lose the purchase amount and expose their card details, name, address and phone number, which can be reused for further fraud or targeted follow-up scams.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, 13 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CyRadar, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop, which matches our classification. The domain appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-03-26 through Spaceship, Inc. That is roughly six months before PhishDestroy detected it, enough time to build a convincing catalogue and collect some traffic. It is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, far from the Kerala heritage the storefront claims. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock icon, but this only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the seller is genuine.

What to do

If you paid on this site, contact your card issuer or bank right away to dispute the charge and request a chargeback, and ask for a replacement card if you entered card details. Keep any order confirmations, emails and payment receipts as evidence. Be wary of follow-up messages offering refunds or delivery updates, since these often aim to extract more money or data. Defenders and payment providers should block the domain, flag transactions linked to it, and treat new .shop storefronts selling Indian brass and pooja goods with similar branding as suspect.
