PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ajsanitygear.shop presents itself as "AJ SANITY," the self-described best knife store online, selling hand-forged knives, axes, sheaths and accessories. It targets hobbyists, collectors and outdoor buyers who want craft blades at attractive prices. PhishDestroy classifies it as an e-commerce scam and first flagged it on 2026-09-28. As of 2026-10-19 the storefront was still online and serving its full catalogue.

How the scam works

Fake shops like this one copy the look of a specialist retailer. They fill a catalogue with polished product photos of forged blades and leather sheaths, and often advertise steep discounts to push quick checkouts. Victims pay by card or another online method and then receive nothing, receive a cheap item that bears no resemblance to the listing, or get stalled with fake tracking numbers until the dispute window closes. Beyond the lost purchase, the checkout form hands the operators your name, address, phone number and card details, which can be reused or sold.

Evidence

On 2026-10-01, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and Gridinsoft. That is a meaningful spread of independent vendors for a site that has no malware payload and simply takes money. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference the domain, so other researchers have tracked it independently of PhishDestroy's own listing.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-03-26, roughly six months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap leaves time to build the catalogue and run ads before blocklists catch up. The site is hosted in Georgia on the Malakmadze Web LLC network, a long way from where a boutique knife maker's customers would expect it. It uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the seller is real.

What to do

If you ordered from this store, call your card issuer now, report the charge as fraud and request a chargeback. Ask for a new card if you entered the card number at checkout. Expect phishing emails or calls that use the name and address you supplied, and do not pay any "customs" or "shipping release" fees that the shop demands. Keep your order confirmation and any payment receipts as evidence for the dispute. Defenders should block the domain at the DNS and proxy level, add it to fraud filters for ad and payment platforms, and watch for look-alike .shop domains carrying the same AJ SANITY branding.
