PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

aftershocktech.shop is a fraudulent storefront that copies Aftershock PC Australia, a retailer of gaming PCs, laptops and workstations. Its page title reproduces the brand's own wording to look like the official Australian store. It targets buyers hunting for high-end gaming hardware. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-24, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online with its shop content live.

How the scam works

Fake hardware shops like this one list expensive gaming rigs and laptops at prices tempting enough to win a quick checkout. The victim pays for an order that never arrives. Payment details typed into the checkout can also be captured and reused. Borrowing the Aftershock PC Australia name means shoppers who already trust the real brand are less likely to question an unfamiliar domain. A cheap .shop address dressed in the brand's styling is a typical sign of these operations.

Evidence

On 2026-09-26, 10 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. Among them were BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Netcraft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share of engines, but it includes several major vendors who reached the same conclusion on their own. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-03-21, about six months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was set up well in advance or ran unnoticed for some time. It is hosted in Georgia on the Malakmadze Web LLC network, which has no obvious link to an Australian PC retailer. The site uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the shop is real.

What to do

If you placed an order or paid on this site, contact your bank or card issuer right away to dispute the charge. Ask them to block or replace the card. If you paid by bank transfer, PayPal or another service, report the fraud to that provider immediately. Keep order confirmations, emails and screenshots, since they help with chargebacks and police reports. Watch your statements for unfamiliar charges, and buy only through the brand's official website.
