PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ackubd.com is an impersonation phishing site. It greets visitors with a page titled 'Bot Verification' rather than any recognizable brand. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-10. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online, and it now redirects visitors onward instead of serving content directly.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look of a trusted service so visitors believe they are on a legitimate site. They then collect whatever the real service would ask for, such as login credentials, contact details or payment information. A 'Bot Verification' screen fits a common pattern: a fake human check gives the visitor a routine step to click through before they land on the cloned page or are pushed elsewhere. The page title presents a bot check, while our classification is based on impersonation behavior. Anything typed after that step goes to the operators, not to the brand being imitated.

Evidence

On 2026-10-16, VirusTotal showed 9 of 92 security engines flagging the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Lionic, SOCRadar, Sophos and VIPRE. That is a minority of engines, but it spans unrelated vendors who reached the same conclusion independently. AlienVault OTX lists the domain in 4 threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. On public blocklists, it currently appears on PhishDestroy's.

Infrastructure

The domain is not a throwaway. It was registered through NAMECHEAP INC on 2016-01-06, roughly a decade before we detected it. An older domain carries more reputation history and can slip past filters that distrust newly created names. The site is hosted on the FranTech Solutions network in Luxembourg, and its Let's Encrypt certificate means the browser padlock says nothing about whether the site is trustworthy.

What to do

If you passed the 'Bot Verification' step and entered a password on any page that followed, change that password right away. Change it on every other account that uses the same one, and turn on two-factor authentication. If you supplied card or bank details, contact your bank to block the card and watch for unfamiliar charges. Be wary of follow-up emails or calls that reference what you entered, since harvested contact details are often reused for further scams. Defenders should block ackubd.com at DNS and proxy level and search logs for users who reached it after 2026-10-10. Watch for redirect chains originating from this domain, because it is still forwarding traffic.
