Overview

1mixero.com presents itself as "Bitcoin Mixer (BTC Mixer) — Mixero CoinJoin" and copies the Mixero brand. It targets people looking for a privacy service to anonymize their bitcoin. The "1" prefix is a classic lookalike trick meant to catch users who search for the mixer or mistype its name. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-05, and the site was still live and serving content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

A fake mixer works by taking the deposit itself. The visitor is shown a CoinJoin-style form and given a bitcoin address for their coins, but the mixed funds never come back. Some clones also ask for an extra "fee" before releasing the coins. Mixer users expect anonymity and rarely leave a paper trail, so victims have little practical recourse. Whatever BTC is sent to this site should be treated as lost.

Evidence

On 2026-10-19, VirusTotal showed 13 of 92 engines flagging the domain. Detections came from alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, CyRadar, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors are independent of each other and agree. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain is on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, which matters because those lists come from the crypto-security community. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-07-29 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, about five weeks before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of brand clones that are spun up, promoted and abandoned. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network (an address geolocated to Canada), which hides the real origin server. The HTTPS certificate from Google Trust Services is an automated one, so the padlock says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

Do not send any bitcoin to 1mixero.com, and do not pay any "release" or "processing" fee it requests to return earlier deposits. If you already sent funds, record the deposit address and transaction IDs and report them to the impersonated service and to your local cybercrime authorities. Stop reusing any address or wallet you linked to the site. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to crypto-focused filters, and watch for sibling lookalikes using the Mixero name.
