PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

This domain hosts an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as a "USDC Approval Manager" for signature-based token approvals. It borrows the identity of Circle, the issuer of USDC, and is aimed at people who hold or move the stablecoin. The domain name copies the look of an Ethereum address so it seems technical and official. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-07. On 2026-10-19 the site was still alive and redirecting visitors.

How the scam works

The page claims to manage USDC approvals and asks visitors to connect a wallet and sign a message. Signature-based approvals can grant a third party permission to move tokens without an on-chain transaction from the victim. That makes a malicious signature easy to overlook. Once the attacker holds a valid permit, they can transfer the victim's USDC to their own address. Because the transfer uses an authorization the victim signed, it cannot be reversed afterward.

Evidence

On 2026-09-16, seven of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but the other sources point the same way. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized Circle branding on it. MetaMask and SEAL block the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and Spamhaus lists it in its DBL as phishing. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Name.com, Inc. on 2026-09-04, only three days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of a site set up quickly for a campaign. It runs on Google Cloud Platform in the United States. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock in the browser, which does nothing to make the site trustworthy.

What to do

If you signed anything on this page, open a token-approval checker and revoke every USDC allowance or permit you do not recognize. Then move your remaining funds to a fresh wallet, because an unused signed permit can still be redeemed later. If you only connected a wallet without signing, disconnect it and revoke the site's access. Never approve or sign token permissions from a link you did not reach through Circle's or your wallet's official channels. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add the Ethereum-address-style naming pattern to their phishing detection rules.
