PhishDestroy threat report
store.steampowered.app196002.com is an impersonation phishing site posing as the Steam store. It targets Steam users, especially players and traders whose accounts hold games, inventory items and wallet balance. The hostname begins with "store.steampowered" to mimic Valve's real store address, but the actual domain is the unrelated app196002.com. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-07. As of 2026-10-19 the site is dead: its DNS stopped resolving, and it has been offline since 2026-10-17.
Fake Steam store pages usually reach victims through chat messages, trade offers or giveaway links. The link looks like an ordinary Steam address because the fake subdomain comes first. The page copies Steam's look and asks the visitor to sign in, and anything typed into that form goes straight to the operators. With the password and any Steam Guard code entered alongside it, attackers can take over the account in real time. They can then drain tradable items, spend the wallet balance, change recovery details and use the account to send the same lure to the victim's friends. The browser tab showed only the hostname as its title, so it gave no extra clue beyond the Steam-styled address itself.
On 2026-09-18, VirusTotal showed 14 of 89 engines flagging the domain. Among them were BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, CRDF, CyRadar and Chong Lua Dao. That is a modest share, but these are separate vendors reaching the same conclusion on their own. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognized Steam branding on it. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing (DBL_PHISH), and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The domain was registered on 2025-09-06 through Web Commerce Communications Limited (WebNic.cc), about a year before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests the name was held in reserve or used quietly before this Steam campaign surfaced. The site resolved to 216.120.147.200 on the H2NEXUS LTD network, which is registered in Great Britain, while the IP itself is located in the United States. It used an R13-issued TLS certificate, so visitors saw a normal padlock even though the site was fraudulent.
If you entered your Steam login here, change your Steam password right away from the official app or by typing the address yourself. Then deauthorize all other devices and check Steam Guard settings, the linked email and your trade API key. Review recent trades, market listings and wallet activity, and file a report with Steam Support if items or funds are gone. Warn friends, since hijacked accounts often send this same lure. Defenders should block app196002.com and its subdomains, and watch for hostnames that place "steampowered" in front of an unrelated domain.

Saved certificate metadata. Certificate dates without a timezone are shown as stored. Transport encryption does not establish that the site is trustworthy.
An estimated time describes an observation window. It does not prove a registrar action or the exact moment a site became unavailable.
Dated changes retained by the monitor and source collectors. Newest observations appear first; source states are not proof of a takedown.
