PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

sigmaclient.org poses as the download page for Sigma Client. Its title reads "Sigma Client 26.2 for Fabric — Free Minecraft Mod", which aims it at Minecraft players searching for a free modded client. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page and first flagged it on 2026-09-29. On 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving content.

How the scam works

Sites like this rely on a familiar brand name and a version number that looks current, so a player feels they have found the real download. The usual payoff for the operator is getting the visitor to download and run a file, or to type account details into the page. Fake game-mod downloads are a common way to spread information stealers. These collect saved browser passwords, session cookies, Discord and game account tokens, and data from any crypto wallets on the same computer. A victim can lose far more than a Minecraft account.

Evidence

On 2026-10-01, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They include ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and MalwarePatrol. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors are independent and unrelated. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing, and four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it. This backs the classification beyond PhishDestroy's own blocklist entry.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-07 through Web Commerce Communications Limited (WebNic.cc), about seven weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. It is hosted in Germany on a network operated by FEMO IT SOLUTIONS LIMITED. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a padlock, which says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you only browsed the page, close it and do not come back. If you downloaded or ran anything from it, disconnect that computer and run a full scan with a reputable security tool. Then, from a different, clean device, change your passwords for Microsoft/Minecraft, Discord, email and any accounts saved in your browser. Turn on two-factor authentication, sign out of all active sessions, and move funds out of any wallet that was stored on the affected machine. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and check endpoint logs for files downloaded from it.
