PhishDestroy threat report
ottobrand-caps.com is a fake crypto trading platform that presented itself as "petroperu-app | AI Trading Platform | Official Website". It targeted people looking for easy returns from AI-driven crypto trading. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-13. The site has been offline since 2026-09-19 and was still unreachable when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Fake AI trading platforms promise that an automated algorithm will grow your deposit with little effort. Victims are asked to register and fund an account with cryptocurrency, then shown a dashboard with steadily rising balances that exist only on screen. When they try to withdraw, they are told to pay "taxes", "verification fees" or a higher deposit tier first, and the money never comes back. Victims lose every deposit and fee they send, and any identity documents or personal details they submit can be reused for further fraud.
On 2026-09-13, VirusTotal showed 16 of 89 engines flagging the domain as malicious or phishing. The flagging vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, CyRadar, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. The domain is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist and appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse.
The domain was registered on 2025-10-09 through MainReg Inc. It was hosted on the Snel.com B.V. network in the Netherlands at IP 185.62.57.48. Its TLS certificate was issued by ZeroSSL GmbH (ZeroSSL ECC DV SSL CA 2), a domain-validated certificate. That padlock only confirms an encrypted connection and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
If you deposited funds, stop sending money immediately and ignore any demand for withdrawal fees or taxes, because paying them only increases the loss. Save transaction hashes, wallet addresses, chat logs and payment receipts. Report the theft to your local police or cybercrime unit and to the exchange you sent funds from. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse. Change any password you reused on the site and be wary of "recovery services" that contact you promising to get your money back, since these are a common follow-up scam. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at the DNS and proxy level and add it to phishing and fraud filters.
