PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

luminous-cliff.com is an impersonation phishing page. It borrows the identity of a legitimate service so visitors believe they are dealing with the real thing. The domain name itself is a neutral, scenic-sounding phrase with no obvious brand in it, which makes it easy to pass around in messages without raising suspicion. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-13, and on 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look, wording and login flow of a brand people already trust, then wait for traffic from links in direct messages, social posts, search ads or emails. A visitor who believes the page is genuine is asked to sign in, verify an account or confirm details. Whatever they type goes straight to the operators. In crypto scams this usually means exchange logins, one-time 2FA codes, or a wallet recovery phrase that gives the operators full control of the funds.

Evidence

On 2026-09-21, 16 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as malicious. Among them were established vendors such as BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and G-Data, alongside alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and the Vietnamese anti-phishing group Chong Lua Dao. That spread of independent engines agreeing is a strong signal, not a lone false positive. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, and it is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2025-10-24, almost eleven months before PhishDestroy detected it. Operators often hold a domain for a long stretch like this so it looks established when the campaign starts. The site sits behind Cloudflare's network, with the address geolocating to Canada. That address belongs to Cloudflare's edge, so the server actually hosting the page is hidden behind the proxy.

What to do

If you only opened the page, close it and do not return through the same link. If you entered a password or 2FA code, change that password from the official site or app at once, sign out of all sessions, and reset 2FA, preferring an authenticator app or hardware key over SMS. If you typed a wallet recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a newly created wallet immediately. Security teams should block luminous-cliff.com at DNS and proxy level, search mail and chat logs for links to it, and report it to the impersonated brand and to Cloudflare's abuse channel.
