PhishDestroy threat report
kohveek.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as Les Rencontres Économiques, the French economic conference. Its page title advertises the 3-4-5 juillet 2025 edition. The domain name has no connection to the event, which makes it a typical lookalike built to borrow a trusted name. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-18. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still resolves, but its page content no longer loads.
Impersonation pages like this copy the branding of a real event so visitors believe they are on the official site. Victims are then pushed to register, reserve a seat or buy access. In the process they hand over names, email addresses, account passwords or payment card details to whoever runs the clone. Because the page carries a prestigious conference name and specific dates, a hurried visitor arriving from an ad, email or search result has little reason to doubt it. The loss is whatever was typed into the forms, plus any money paid for access that does not exist.
On 2026-09-29, 15 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, an independent signal that the classification is not ours alone. The vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, CyRadar, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and Gridinsoft. AlienVault OTX lists the domain in 5 threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. Among public blocklists, it currently appears on PhishDestroy's.
The domain was registered on 2026-06-11 through Namecheap, about three months before PhishDestroy detected it. The page promotes a July 2025 event, yet the domain was created almost a year after those dates. It sits behind Cloudflare, which hides the real origin server, and the address geolocates to Canada. Its certificate comes from Google Trust Services, which only shows the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
If you entered a password on this site, change it immediately along with any account reusing it, and turn on two-factor authentication. If you entered card details or paid for registration, contact your bank to dispute the charge and block the card. Treat follow-up emails or calls about the conference with suspicion, and confirm event details only through the organizer's official channels. Defenders should block kohveek.com at DNS and proxy level, search mail logs for messages linking to it, and report it to Cloudflare and Namecheap's abuse teams.
