Overview

cakewallat.com is a fraudulent page that impersonates Cake Wallet, a legitimate mobile cryptocurrency wallet, with the goal of tricking users into surrendering their seed phrases. The site presents itself under the page title "Cake Wallet Web | Cake Wallet", mimicking the real brand's identity closely enough to deceive wallet holders. PhishDestroy first identified it on 2026-10-15, and as of 2026-10-18 the site remains alive, though its DNS is currently inactive.

How the scam works

Seed phrase theft pages replicate the look of a trusted wallet's interface and prompt visitors to type in their 12- or 24-word recovery phrase, typically under the pretense of restoring access, verifying an account, or connecting a web version of the app. The moment a victim submits those words, the attacker gains complete, irrevocable control of every asset in the wallet. Because Cake Wallet is a self-custody wallet, there is no support team or recovery mechanism that can reverse the theft once the seed phrase is in criminal hands.

Evidence

Detection coverage is currently limited: Gridinsoft is the sole flagging vendor out of 92 engines checked on VirusTotal on 2026-10-15, making it a low-confidence signal on that platform alone. urlscan.io independently returned a malicious verdict and attributed the page to the Cake Wallet brand.
