PhishDestroy threat report
phosphor.run is an impersonation phishing domain built around the Namecheap brand. It targets domain owners who trust Namecheap-branded pages, and its presence on MetaMask and SEAL blocklists shows it also reaches crypto users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still alive and its content was reachable through a redirect.
The page carries the title "phosphor.run is registered at Namecheap", which mimics the notice a registrar shows on a newly registered domain. That title reads like an ordinary parking notice, while our classification places the domain in Namecheap impersonation phishing. Impersonation schemes of this kind borrow a trusted brand's look so visitors will follow links or enter details without suspicion. Phishing pages aimed at registrar customers typically try to capture account logins, which can hand an attacker control of domains, DNS and payment details. Because the content now sits behind a redirect, visitors can be sent to a different destination than the one they expected.
On 2026-09-21, 11 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft were among them. ChainPatrol focuses on crypto threats, and MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet-focused defenders reached the same conclusion independently. Spamhaus DBL classifies it as phishing (DBL_PHISH). Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it.
The domain was registered on 2026-06-19 through NameCheap, Inc., roughly twelve weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. It resolves to an address on Namecheap, Inc.'s network in the United States. Registrar and hosting both sit with the brand being imitated, which makes the parking-style page look more convincing at a glance. A valid TLS certificate is present, so the browser padlock says nothing about whether the site is safe.
If you entered Namecheap credentials on this site, change your password immediately from Namecheap's official site. Enable or reset two-factor authentication and review your account for unfamiliar logins, domain transfers, DNS changes, API keys or contact-email edits. Check saved payment methods for charges you did not make. If the redirect led you to a page where you connected a crypto wallet or signed anything, revoke the token approvals that site was granted and move funds you consider at risk to a new wallet. Defenders should block phosphor.run at DNS and proxy level, alert on redirects originating from it, and warn staff who manage domains about registrar-themed phishing.
