PhishDestroy threat report
metamaks-live.framer.website is a phishing page that impersonates MetaMask. It sits on a subdomain of Framer's free site-hosting domain, and its name swaps two letters of the brand ("metamaks") to catch users who skim the address. It targets MetaMask wallet holders. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-17, and it went offline on 2026-09-22, five days later. It was still dead with no content at the root when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Pages built to look like MetaMask usually push visitors to "verify", "restore" or "sync" their wallet. They do this by asking for the secret recovery phrase or by prompting a wallet connection and transaction signature. Anyone holding a recovery phrase controls the wallet, so typing it in hands every asset in it to the operator, who can empty it within minutes. The page title now reads "Site Not Found | Framer", which is Framer's default placeholder for a removed site, while we classify the domain as MetaMask impersonation phishing.
MetaMask itself lists this domain on its own blocklist. So does SEAL, a security alliance focused on crypto threats, alongside PhishDestroy. On VirusTotal, only 3 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-23: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker. That count is low, and most general-purpose scanners never caught it. The brand owner's own listing and a crypto-specialist vendor like ChainPatrol carry the weight here.
The 2021-11-19 registration date and the registrar, CSC Corporate Domains, Inc., belong to the shared framer.website domain operated by the site builder, not to the scammer. The operator only had to create a free subdomain, which explains how quickly the page could appear and disappear. Traffic was served from Amazon.com, Inc. infrastructure in the Netherlands, the hosting behind the platform rather than anything the attacker set up.
If you typed your MetaMask recovery phrase into this page, treat the wallet as fully compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a trusted device and move any remaining funds there immediately. If you only connected a wallet or signed something, review and revoke token approvals granted around 2026-09-17 to 2026-09-22 and watch for unfamiliar transactions. MetaMask never asks for your recovery phrase through a website. Defenders should block the subdomain, alert on look-alike MetaMask names under free site-builder domains, and report new ones to the hosting platform for removal.
